BIG BROWN EYES

Once a small child with big brown eyes,

All she wanted to do was learn to fly.

She’d go outside to feel the breeze,

All she wanted to do was sail the seas.

She had huge dreams of one day being famous.

Not one of her ambitions were aimless.

But she was just a little ghetto black girl,

Who no one thought could whirl…

Whirl her way into that lifestyle

But she knew…

Somehow she had to make it out those slums.

Watching those crackheads sit on those stumps.

That life wasn’t for her.

Little black girl with all these dreams

Don’t let this world make you lose your self-esteem.

Because one day you’ll make it.

They won’t give it to you baby girl,

You have to take it.

Don’t let them tell you otherwise,

Use your wings,

Now learn to fly.

Now a grown black woman with big brown eyes.

She used her wings, now she knows how to fly.

She stopped living on hope,

She moved out the hood.

Yeah, she learned the ropes.

Grown black woman they can’t tell you nothing.

You overcame the statistics, you became something.

You are strong.

You are beautiful.

You are a QUEEN.

Hold your crown high, beautiful black woman.

Keep your eyes on the prize.

Now go, be a light to a little black girl

With big brown eyes.
